Songs to Help You Sleep
« on: January 10, 2019, 09:38:35 pm »
I know we already have music threads, but I was wondering if y'all had any music that helps you wind down at night, or anything to which you could fall asleep. It's something that helps me (apart from f.lux). Here are some that I've found:

Who never ate his bread in sorrow, who never spent the midnight hours
Weeping and waiting for the morrow, he knows you not, ye Heavenly Powers.

Johann von Goethe

Would this board be open to non-music entries? Like cooking asmr?

That'd be fine too. I often fall asleep to things like this.

Who never ate his bread in sorrow, who never spent the midnight hours
Weeping and waiting for the morrow, he knows you not, ye Heavenly Powers.

I rounded up a few asmr videos that I watch on the nights I find it hard to sleep. I generally like videos with an interesting theme or "dry" more textured sounding triggers. Towel sounds, crinkly sounds, light triggers too lol. Though I normally hate wet sounds unless its in the context of cooking asmr (mukbang is not my thing >.<).

I frequent Karuna's channel quite a bit. While she certainly has a very interesting worldview, I just generally find her demeanor and uniqueness both fascinating and relaxing. I've been kinda obsessed with this video in particular since it was uploaded because of the nostalgia the ice cream set gives me lol.

Okay honestly I think a lot of people who watch asmr know who Gibi is by this point. Her Daisy roleplays crack me up. But I oddly find her Daisy voice more relaxing than her regular voice? I dunno.

(struggling to embed these next two so alas, here is the plain ol' links instead.)

Hanse's videos are just overall really satisfying. I feel like even you don't like asmr, you might just enjoy some of Hanse's videos for how visually appealing they can be if that makes sense?

Okay not only are this dude's videos relaxing cooking asmr but they're just so...weird in the best way possible. Just my type of humor.

weeeeell that spam is done now haha.

I put this on repeat fairly often. It's solemn, serene, something that winds me down.

Also...

Not really ASMR, but you could use it for that purpose, to have a human voice in the background. I love De Profundis. I especially love this recording.
Who never ate his bread in sorrow, who never spent the midnight hours
Weeping and waiting for the morrow, he knows you not, ye Heavenly Powers.
